ePESSTO+ Year 1+2 - Final SOFI Imaging reduction

Summary:

Data processing for the ePESSTO+ DR1 resulted in 556 reduced SOFI images of which 232 are observed in J-band, 228 are observed in H-band, and 96 are observed in Ks-band. Detailed notes on the data reduction are found below.


2019-05-13:

The AT2019ahk J and H-band images are affected by prominent instrumental noise in the lower right quadrant of the detector; however, as the data was obtained with separate sky frames via beam switching, the transient location is not extremely affected. 


2019-07-30:

The SN2017hhl J and H-band reductions with the pipeline result into images

due to no object name added in the used OB. 


The SN2017hhl J and H-band reduced images had also some sky subtraction residuals in the default PESSTO pipeline reduction. The images were re-reduced without the illumination correction step, which appeared to improve the image quality. 


2019-07-30:

The SN2018bsz Ks-band observations are split by the PESSTO pipeline by default into two reduced images:

2019-08-20:

2019-08-22:

2019-11-06:

To enable the correct alignment of the dithered exposures by the PESSTO pipeline it was necessary to calculate the corresponding cummulative X offset and cummulative Y offset values (header keywords HIERARCH ESO SEQ CUMOFFSETX and HIERARCH ESO SEQ CUMOFFSETY, respectively) for the normal case of position angle 0 degrees and modify the header with IRAF accordingly. Astrometry


For the following 71 reduced images the PESSTOSOFIPHOT task of the PESSTO pipeline was not successful at deriving the astrometry as indicated by the "990 999 0", "990 999 1", "990 999 2", or "990 999 3" values of the ASTROMET header keyword, and the 9999.0 value of the PHOTZP header keyword; the astrometry and the zeropoint were derived manually using the PESSTOASTRO task of the PESSTO pipeline:
