Night Report

Observers : C. Inserra (QUB) Flora Cellier-Holzem (LPHNE)

Data analysts on duty : M. Fraser, D. Wright, A. Pastorello

Time shared with Benetti Large Program (BLP) over the third three nights rather than the breakdown of firewalled nights - this was due to RA pressue ranges of targets and having to work around the weather. Data reduced, as much as possible with the PESSTO pipeline

Total time spent BLP on 20120824 : 2-2.5h

Total time overall in Aug 2012 : 25.5h (out of total of about 53hr clear)

Total time lost on 20120824: 0h

All times CST and approximate 19.05 start 19.10 STD EG274 gm11+gm16(blk flt)+gm13+gm13(blk flt) BLP time       seeing~0.8

19.30 Classification under BLP 19.35 PSN J14242911-1645392 gm13       seeing~0.8       Best match with several IIb  at +13-10d. Z=0.008 (host distance). Alternative identification with Ib at maximum light but the redshift does not match. 19.50 PSN J15395722-3033192 gm13       seeing~0.8       It matches with several normal Ia -6d to maximum light (best match SN2007le -6d but at z~0.02 instead of 0.018 of the host, but we are in the error considering the SN in        an arm)

20.30 Switch to PESSTO 20.40 SN2012ca gm13+UBVRi followup       seeing~0.8       Good spectrum, close to +130d, S/N~100  21.35 LSQ12elq gm13 PESSTO classification, used PESSTOEFOSCPHOT to have a quick astrometry because of the small and unclear FC       seeing~1.0       Pretty featureless, but could be another ultraluminous Ic at +4d after maximum (compared with 2010gx) or +7d (compared with PS1-12fo). Then the redshift should be 0.247        (snid suggests 0.24, moreover there is a features close to 8190 A that could be the Ha at z-0.247) and as consequence the peak magnitude is -22.88.

22.00 SN2012dy UBVRi+gm11,gm16 followup       seeing~0.8       Slight evolution since last observation (18/08). good S/N. 23.10 PS1-12baa/PTF12gzk/LSQ12dwl UBVRi+gm11,gm16       seeing~0.7-0.8       This SN shows a slight change at about 6000A respect the previous spectrum (17/08). Good S/N 00.35 SSS120810:231802-560926 UBVRi+gm13       seeing~0.8       Now the spectrum is similar to 2010gx at +10d. S/N~50 between 5000A and 6000A. 01.20 LSQ12dyw UBVRi+gm13       seeing~1.0

02.05 Switch to BLP 02.10 SN2009ip gm11+R follow-up       seeing~0.7-0.8

02.55 Switch to PESSTO 03.00 LSQ12dlf UBVRi+gm13 follow-up       seeing~0.8       Now it is matching perfectly 2010gx at +21d from maximum light. Still no sign of emission line from the host. 03.45 STD Feige110 gm11+gm16(blk flt)+gm13+gm13(blk flt) 03.50 STD PG0231 UBVRigrz       seeing~0.7

04.10 LSQ12elk gm13 PESSTO classification. We ran again PESSTOEFOSCPHOT.       seeing~0.7       It matches with several Ia at peak (or before). The phase it is comparable with the light curve shown by LSQ.

04.35 SNhunt121 VRi       seeing~0.8 05.55 FINISH!!!
