GCN Guidelines for ePESSTO reporting of GRB observations

ePESSTO GCN CIRCULAR TEMPLATE

TITLE: “GRB YYMMDDA: ePESSTO+ NTT observations” or “GRB YYMMDDA: ePESSTO+ NTT redshift”

AUTHORS: see guidelines here http://wiki.pessto.org/pessto-wiki/home/atel-guidelines

In this case we should put the observers first, then the GRB science team who analysed and wrote the GCN, then ePESSTO Builders list and the on-duty team for that subrun (the TAT on duty and the data analysis team).

MAIN TEXT:

We observed GRB YYMMDDA under the the advanced Public ESO Spectroscopic Survey for Transient Objects (ePESSTO; see Smartt et al. 2015, A&A, 579, 40 http://www.pessto.org ). The observations were performed on the ESO New Technology Telescope at La Silla with the EFOSC2/SofI instrument in spectroscopic/imaging mode starting from YYYY-MM-DD at HH:MM:SS UT (i.e. XX.X hours from the burst).

Followed by a paragraph describing the results (afterglow detection/upper limit, redshift based on absorption/emission lines identification in the spectrum.

Here's how to actually submit a GCN (you need to be registered to the GCN system):
