Night Report 2015-01-15

Observers: Christoffer Fremling, Anders Nyholm

TAT: Annalisa de Cia, Morgan Fraser

No high clouds at the start of the night, but somewhat hazy. humidity of ~30%. Seeing~0.94”. Will attempt EFOSC photometry and spectroscopy. Mostly classifications, but also some photometric followup planned. EFOSC was periodically having trouble with the focus due to internal temp. fluctuations.

SCIENCE-OBSERVATIONS:

EFOSC observations

- 00:58 SN2014cx, Airmass=1.5, Seeing=0.78”

Comment: Phot 10x100 R, seeing started at 0.7” but increased and was over 1” in the last ~3 exposures

- 01:15 STD field T_Phe_UBVRi

- 01:22 SN2014cx, Airmass=1.63, Seeing=0.73”

Comment: Phot 9x100 R dither, to make sure we get 10 good seeing images in total. Seeing was stable ~0.7-0.8” during this OB

- 01:47 OGLE21, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.49, Seeing=0.69”

Comment: Ia-91T, -3d, z=0.085

- 02:25 OGLE05, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.53, Seeing=0.76”

Comment: IIP +30d, z=0.047, SNID also matches II-Pec ~-50d, i.e. 87a-like

- 02:51 OGLE14, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.47, Seeing=0.76”

Comment: SNID Ic +13 or Ia +60 z=0.06-0.07, Gelato says type II, e.g. 1993J at max and z=0.062, class. unclear

- 03:24 OGLE10, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.6, Seeing=0.71”

Comment: spectrum looks like a star, CV?

- 03:59 OGLE01, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.x, Seeing=0.7x”

Comment: Difficult to trace, but most likely Ia-norm z=0.051 +9d SNID

- 04:34 OGLE12, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.39, Seeing=0.76”

Comment: Ia z=0.19 +5d SNID

- 05:21 OGLE20, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.7, Seeing=0.57”

Comment: strong galaxy contamination but narrow H-alpha (also in 2d frame), IIn?

- 05:52 OGLE17, Class. gr13, Airmass=1., Seeing=0.68”

Comment: Ia z=0.09 -7d SNID

- 06:35 MASTER07, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.35, Seeing=0.65”

Comment: CV

- 06:45 LSQ15ck, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.07, Seeing=0.61”

Comment: IIP z=0.04 +3d SNID

- 07:27 STD star l745, Airmass=1.38, Seeing=0.49”

- 07:55 LSQ15cj, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.1, Seeing0.60”

Comment: Ic, SNID match to sn2004aw, z=0.05 +20d

- 08:40 LSQ15dh, Class. gr13, Airmass=1.04, Seeing=0.56”

Comment: IIP z=0.04 +10d SNID & Gelato (gelato phase robust at ~+10)
