PTF Survey Strategy

Period of year during which Survey runs: Main survey runs from March-November each year.

Filters: R band is used during bright time, and g band during dark time,

Cadence: Around half the time is a dynamic cadence (<1 day), and about half for a 3 day cadence. At least two exposures are taken of each field each night to eliminate moving objects.

Depth: The limiting magnitude is usually around 20-20.5 in R, although can be deeper in good conditions. Targets usually range from R=16-20.

Duration: The survey is funded up to end-2012.
