Pretty lousy night. The seeing was terrible (>~5") for the first half of the night. Most likely the data taken then is totally useless but we took it anyway. During the second half of the night the seeing improved but the wind went up, so wind restrictions forced us to do two PESSTO targets (we will compensate on the next nights, if the wind is lower) before closing completely. Clouds were also coming in (not Magellanic). We stayed closed until morning.
All spec at 1.5" slit (best seeing we got, just before the wind issues, was 1.6"-1.8"):
SN2011ja [EFOSC: gm16=1500] Possibly fainter than estimated, hardly seen in 30s acq image in R and not sure if there is any trace after 25 min. Could not continue nor do the imaging since reached telescope limit.
SN2011ja [EFOSC: gm11=2x2700] Not observed due to high airmass.
SN2012dh [EFOSC: U=150 B=20 V=10 R=5 i=8 gm13=900] Not observed due to high airmass.
SN2009ip [EFOSC: U=300 B=45 V=30 R=20 i=20 gm11=2700 gm16=2700 1.5"slit] NOTE MERIDIAN Not distinguishable from nearby star due to the terrible seeing. Will try tomorrow if conditions are better.
SNhunt138 [EFOSC: V=3x200 R=3x200 i=3x200] Skipped due to bad seeing.
SN2012dy [EFOSC: U=600 B=90 V=60 R=40 i=40 gm11=2700 gm16=2700 1.5"slit] Seeing seems to have improved to ~2". Good spectra, nice IIb.
SSS120810 [EFOSC: U=3x200 B=200 V=90 R=60 i=60 gm13=2x1800] PESSTO followup target observed due to wind restrictions (will compensate time tomorrow). Clouds coming in. Ok signal.
SN2012ec [EFOSC: U=150 B=20 V=10 R=5 i=8 gm11=900 gm16=900] Not observable due to wind restriction.
SN2012Z [EFOSC: B=3x300 V=3x200 r=3x200 i=3x200 gm13=3x2700] Not observable due to wind restriction.
SN2011iv [EFOSC: B=3x300 V=3x200 r=3x200 i=3x200 gm13=3x2700] Not seen in 300s acq image.
PSNJ21015899 [EFOSC: gm13=1500] PESSTO followup target observed due to wind restrictions. Forced to close due to winds after 5 minutes on the target. Some data obtained, looks pretty good. Kate, please advise if you want us to repeat for the full exposure time.
