PESSTO Year2 - Final SOFI imaging reduction

General:

31/170 (18%) of merged SOFI images, excluding 4 images with no signal, with failed astrometry (corrected with PESSTOASTRO).

Vertical noise pattern, likely electronic in origin, in some of the merged images (~10-15%). This is a more common feature during autumn 2013. Ghosts in some of the merged images (~10-15%). Artifacts in a few of the merged images (~5%). Full details are found below.

20131003:
According to the night report the SN2013ej imaging OB was by mistake started a 2nd time. Final reductions include two merged J-band images of SN2013ej:
4x(2x4.0) sec J-band image SN2013ej_20131003_J_merge_57050_1.fits, and
4x(2x4.0) sec J-band image SN2013ej_20131003_J_merge_57050_2.fits.

20131003:
According to the night report the SN2013fc imaging OB was interrupted, followed by an adjustment of the exposure times. Final reductions include two merged images of SN2013fc both in H and J-band:
4x(3x12.0) sec H-band image SN2013fc_20131003_H_merge_57050_1.fits,
4x(6x15.0) sec H-band image SN2013fc_20131003_H_merge_57050_2.fits,
4x(5x20.0) sec J-band image SN2013fc_20131003_J_merge_57050_1.fits, and
4x(1x15.0) sec J-band image SN2013fc_20131003_J_merge_57050_2.fits.
Merged H-band images of SN2013fc suffer from significant ghosts and artifacts. Some ghosts from the host galaxy are also in the J and Ks-band images, however these are minor effects compared to the H-band.

20131003:
Although there is no mentioning on this in the night report, the SN2009ip imaging OB was likely repeated a second time. Therefore the files have two different observation block ID numbers (100343749 or 100343750) and are merged into two final files by the pipeline:
12x(3x30.0) sec J-band image SN2009ip_20131003_J_merge_57050_1.fits (100343750), and
13x(3x30.0) sec J-band image SN2009ip_20131003_J_merge_57050_2.fits (100343749).

For the merged final image, the pipeline is not correctly aligning the K-band images of SN2012ca, which were obtained after the re-rotation of the telescope during the 9th frame of the total of 18 frames. The following images were excluded:

In the Ks-band sequence of PSNJ01591443+1901339 (16 target frames and 16 separate sky frames), the last sky image (ORIGFILE sky_K_0016.fits)
SOFI.2013-10-14T08:44:59.706.fits
has a different observation block ID number (100344446), compared to all the other Ks-band files of this target (100344432). The PESSTO pipeline would not include this frame in the Ks-band reduction of PSNJ01591443+1901339 and the pipeline cannot reduce a single SOFI file. Therefore the file has not been included in the reductions.

The J-band imaging OB of OGLE-2013-SN-079 was repeated twice. Therefore the files have different observation block ID numbers and are merged into three final files by the pipeline:

According to the night log, during the 2nd set of Ks-band images of SN2013fc the telescope guide probe got stuck while offsetting and only 5/8 OFF sky frames were obtained (full 8/8 ON frames). Reduction was carried out using all the available frames.

PESSTOSOFIPHOT derives a ZP for the merged J-band image of SN2012ec (PHOTZP = 25.21606666666666), however the WCS is not correct (ASTROMET = 2.87 5.32 5). Astrometry was derived for the image SN2012ec_20140206_J_merge_57050_1.fits with PESSTOASTRO. PHOTZP is still likely incorrect in the merged images of SN2012ec
